Role Description
There are many older people who are lonely and living in isolation across South Cumbria and this affects their health and quality of life adversely. The Volunteer role offers support and companionship and the opportunity to talk to someone on a regular basis. This may involve listening, reminiscing or making a cup of tea and encouraging older people to take part in activities in the area. Skills required for the role are: an interest and empathy with older people, good listening and communication skills and the flexibility to meet clients needs. Full training and on-going support is provided for this role, along with attendance at a volunteer induction.
