Our volunteer Fundraisers assist the Community Fundraiser and Events Co-ordinator and Director to raise money which enables Sight Advice to deliver the services and activities supporting visually impaired people of the South Lakes.
Community Supporter - Home Visitor
As possibly the only point of contact with Sight Advice South Lakes, in many cases, it is important that the Community Supporter is aware of the aims of Sight Advice South Lakes and is an enthusiastic, caring and positive representative of the charity.
Hospital Liaison Volunteer
Purpose of Role
• To be a point of contact between patients and/or their carers attending the eye clinics at Westmorland General Hospital, hospital staff and Sight Advice and ensure they have the appropriate information, advice and support.
Community Supporter - Telephone
Purpose of Role: To alleviate loneliness and isolation by providing regular social support and engagement for visually impaired people through one to one phone conversations. The Community Supporter needs to be aware of the charity's aims.
Purpose of Role:
To help visually impaired people access services they are unable to go to due to lack of transport or inability to cope with public transport.
Walking Group Guider
To support visually impaired people attending the Sight Advice Walking Group and enable them to walk out of doors safely (on rough paths or bridleways) with the one to one support they require due to their visual impairment. Full training on guiding techn
