As a volunteer adviser you will help members of the public with a range of problems and issues such as problems with their landlords, paying their bills and accessing rights at work. We welcome all volunteers from the community no matter what your sexuality or gender identity is. You will identify how to enable clients to move their situation forward through one-to-one client interviews
You will need:
• Understanding and commitment to the aims & principles of Citizen's Advice
• Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
• To be open, approachable and non-judgemental
• Basic maths and computer skills
• An ability to work as part of a team
• To be willing to undertake both initial and on-going training
• Ability to work independently and take the initiative as required
What will I do?
• Access clients problems & identify key information
• Establish what the client wants
• Assess levels of support clients need to progress issue
• Research appropriate information and share with client
• Explore options to help client to handle their issue
• Act as appropriate on behalf of the client
• Complete computer case records
