At the Light Dragoons Peer Support Group (LDPSG), we are committed to providing consistent, compassionate, and high-quality support to all members of the Light Dragoons family, serving personnel, veterans, officers, and their loved ones.
Our work is built on lived and shared experience. We understand first-hand the realities of military service, transition, and reintegration into civilian life. That understanding allows us to offer support that is empathetic, authentic, and trusted. We believe that no member of our Regimental community should ever feel isolated or overlooked regardless of rank, background, or circumstance.
Through strong national leadership and a network of dedicated regional coordinators and volunteers across the UK, we ensure that help is accessible, responsive, and delivered with integrity. We act as a vital bridge between the serving regiment, the Regimental Welfare Team, and the wider veteran support community, promoting early engagement and non-clinical (“non-green”) pathways to wellbeing and practical assistance.
We maintain close relationships with healthcare providers, housing services, employment agencies, local authorities, Armed Forces Covenant representatives, and third-sector organisations to ensure that anyone requiring support including those facing urgent or complex challenges is guided to the right help at the right time.
Our approach is grounded in mentorship, peer connection, and community strength. We support our regional volunteers, encourage local networks, and foster environments where shared experience strengthens resilience. We also actively engage with the officer community, ensuring that they too have access to confidential, understanding, and inclusive support.
Everything we do reflects our core values:
Respect | Trust | Integrity | Compassion | Commitment
Together, these values ensure that every member of the Light Dragoons community receives the dignity, understanding, and support they deserve — for life.
At the Light Dragoons Peer Support Group (LDPSG), we provide coordinated, peer-led support to veterans, officers, serving personnel and families connected to the Light Dragoons community.
We act as a trusted bridge between the serving Regiment, the Regimental Welfare Team, and the wider veteran support network across the UK. Our role is to ensure that anyone in need whether facing practical difficulties, emotional challenges, or transition concerns is guided toward the right help, at the right time.
National & Regional Coordination
We oversee and support a UK-wide network of regional peer support coordinators and volunteers, ensuring consistent standards, safeguarding, and delivery of our mission and values. Where urgent or critical intervention is required, we help connect individuals to appropriate professional services and emergency support.
Support to Serving Personnel & Officers
We maintain a visible, trusted presence within the Regiment, offering an independent and confidential listening ear to those who may be reluctant to approach formal welfare channels. We promote early engagement and non-clinical (“non-green”) pathways to support, particularly for those preparing to transition to civilian life.
Importantly, we actively engage with and support the officer community, ensuring inclusion, confidentiality, and understanding across all ranks.
Peer Support & Volunteer Development
We mentor and guide our regional coordinators and volunteers, ensuring they feel valued, connected, and confident in their roles. Through regular engagement, local visits, and shared best practice, we strengthen peer-to-peer networks and encourage local social gatherings that reduce isolation and build community resilience.
Partnership & Community Engagement
We build and maintain relationships with healthcare providers, housing services, employment agencies, councils, Armed Forces Covenant representatives, and third-sector partners. By strengthening these local and national networks, we expand the support pathways available to our community.
Safeguarding, Integrity & Accountability
We maintain clear communication, accurate records, and robust safeguarding standards. We capture impact data, share learning across our network, and uphold confidentiality and professionalism in everything we do.
Above all, we use lived and shared experience to create trusted, compassionate support. Our work ensures that no member of the Light Dragoons family serving or veteran, any rank, any background faces challenges alone.
