Helping Heart (North Yorkshire) is a Northallerton-based small registered charity currently working with Ukrainian people who have had to flee their own country to safety and are rebuilding their lives in North Yorkshire and the host families providing a home for them.
Working in collaboration with various teams from North Yorkshire County Council, Homes for Ukraine, Citizens Advice, Rotary and local community groups, we provide ongoing support to Ukrainians in finding jobs and accommodation as well as adapting to everyday life in the UK. We also help our Ukrainian families moving on from sponsors into their own homes and we are able to provide extensive 'umbrella' support to ensure families have everything they need in their independent living.
We also organise evening meet-ups at different locations as well as a variety of social events for Ukrainians and sponsor families including regular bowling evenings, trips to the Ukrainian National Opera and National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine performances and group day trips to local places of interest.
