Red Balloons is a lived experience Charity. Everyone involved has lived experience of poor mental health and we use that to support others. Where we can we combine this with physical activity and encourage people to use this to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. We're based on Teesside and excited to be expanding our services into North Yorkshire.
One of our main aims is to offer support for mental health with as few barriers as possible. For our Walk and Talk Groups people can just turn up - they don't have to register or let us know they're coming and they don't have to give us any history/personal information. Our only criteria is that they are over 18 and need some support with their mental health.
We offer Peer Support to support people with their mental health. We will be running a Walk and Talk Group in Northallerton - every Monday from 21st April from 11am - 12 noon. The meeting point will be the main entrance of the Leisure Centre. The group will be led by our trained Peer Supporter Mark who can offer a safe space to talk about how you feel, but there is no pressure to talk. People can just come for some company and fresh air.
We also offer a messaging service through our Facebook Page
https://www.facebook.com/redballoons2017
Messages are monitored from 7am-7pm, 7days a week and people can access for information or if they need someone to talk to.
We also run a private Facebook group - Red Balloons Wellbeing where people can get support from others in the group. The group is overseen by staff and volunteers.
