Ilkley & District Good Neighbours
Bradford
Ilkley and District Good Neighbours was first set up in the 1970s. It comprises a team of local volunteers who help the community by offering assistance to people in need. Our aim is to alleviate loneliness and to support older and disabled people living independently in Ilkley and District. Each of our schemes is supported by a group of wonderful volunteers who share our core values of the power of community action to make a difference in people's daily lives.
Our services comprise of Befriending, Shop Assist and Shop & Drop, Moving On Friendship Group, Social Activities and outings, Walk & Talk and Home and Garden Assist. We also deliver Christmas parcels to each of our clients.
Moving On Friendship Group meets weekly at The Clarke Foley Community Centre, Ilkley. We currently have a waiting list and would like to extend and offer another group on another day.
Our social activities are various day trips out to the Yorkshire Dales for afternoon tea and a drive round the countryside to trip to the Pantomime. We offer around 4 trips a year and also Christmas lunches over two weeks in December.
