Discover IT Volunteer - Closing date Tuesday 30 Apr 2019
We need friendly, patient people with a basic knowledge of IT to support disabled people to access the digital world. You will make a difference by helping clients get set up on free IT equipment, coaching people on how to use the internet, and email, building digital confidence and troubleshooting basic IT issues. You don’t need to be an IT expert, the most important qualities our volunteers need are patience and an ability to explain things people may be unfamiliar with.
The role will take place in various locations in your local area depending on the needs of the client, including in a community centre, a residential care home or in a person’s own home.
You will gain experience working with disabled people, training people, as well as learning about the developing field of assistive technology. And if you volunteer with us, you have the satisfaction that you have used your IT skills to support a disabled person keep in touch with loved ones, apply for a job and pursue their interests. Ongoing training and support will be provided along with expenses, as it’s important to us that our volunteers are not out of pocket because of volunteering with us.
